Academic standards provide a common set of expectations for what students will know and be able to do at the end of a grade. College and career ready standards are rooted in the knowledge and skills students need to succeed in post-secondary study or careers.

TNReady is the state’s TCAP test for English language arts, math, social studies and science, as well as alternative assessments like MSAA and TCAP-Alt, for students with special needs. It will provide us with more and better information about our students’ progress. The TNReady TCAP tests are designed to assess true student understanding and not just basic memorization and test-taking skills. TNReady will measure student understanding of our current state standards in English language arts, math, social studies and science.

Assessment blueprints are designed to show educators a summary of what will be assessed in each grade, including the approximate number of items that will address each standard. Blueprints also detail which standards will be assessed on the subparts of TNReady.

The Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System (TVAAS) measures the impact schools and teachers have on their students’ academic progress.

The Tennessee Department of Education has raised standards and aligned graduation requirements to best prepare students for college and the workforce. Tennessee's Career & Technical Education consists of 16 nationally recognized career clusters with the ultimate goal of preparing students for success at the postsecondary level and in their chosen careers.
