Any 4th – 8th grade student is welcome to play for our chess team.  We have open enrollment all year.  Forms are also in the front office!

Start date for practice is September 8- All grades practice together.

Practices will be on Tuesdays in room 304 and once a month an additional practice will be on a Wednesday at the high school.  I will be passing out an annual chess calendar at our first practice

Practices: Practice is key in chess! During these times, you will learn skills, play games with teammates, and be coached by the LCHS Chess Team. 

Practices will be 3:15 - 4:30 in room 304, the hallway that the cafeterias and gym are in at LCIMS. Parents/Guardians need to meet their son/daughter at the long walk.  

Once a month, Wednesday practices, the team will ride the bus to the high school and practice with the high school team until 5:00.  Parents/Guardians need to meet their son/daughter in front of LCHS. During these times, you will learn skills, play games with teammates, and be coached.

A tournament schedule will be provided at the beginning of the school year.  A parent or guardian must be at all tournaments to supervise their child, no exceptions.

Tournaments: Chess is very competitive at tournaments.  The team participates in both individual and team tournaments.  All team members are required to attend tournaments held on Saturdays, at various locations around East TN.
